Dr. Rudy Manthei, one of the pioneering Eye Doctors in Las Vegas and the founder of Nevada Eye Physicians, received his Medical Degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Manthei then completed his residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where he was awarded the Mead Johnson Research and Alvin Morrow Awards.
Dr. Manthei is the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology for Touro University. A Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Nevada School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Western University, College of Osteopathic Medicine of Pacific, and Ohio University.
Dr. Manthei’s contributions to the medical community extend far beyond the practice of medicine. As the Chairman of Keep Our Doctors in Nevada or KODIN, which helps keep Eye Doctors in Las Vegas, he passed the Medical Liability Reform, which protects patient access to quality health care for all of Nevada. Dr. Manthei established the only Ophthalmology residency program in the state of Nevada. This residency program has produced 13 graduates to date, of which five have stayed in Las Vegas to practice with Nevada Eye and Ear.
Dr. Manthei has been President of the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, President of the Nevada Osteopathic Medical Association, Las Vegas Ophthalmology Society, Nevada Ophthalmology Society and Chairman of the Nevada Osteopathic Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Manthei has been awarded the Presidential Achievement Governors award and the Distinguished Service Award given by the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology-HNS.
Dr. Manthei founded Nevada Eye and Ear in 1988, with the vision of providing the highest quality eye care to Las Vegas and the surrounding community and has been doing so successfully for the past 28 years.
