What is LENSAR™ Laser Cataract Technology?
Nevada Eye Physicians is proud to now offer the most powerful advancements in cataract surgery technology, combining the LENSAR™ Laser System with true Micro-Incisional (MICS) techniques.
LENSAR™ Laser System
Nevada Eye Physicians was the first to bring the LENSAR™ laser technology to the state of Nevada. They are now among the most experienced laser cataract surgeons in Las Vegas.
Using femtosecond laser technology, the LENSAR™ Laser System captures a very detailed image and map of the patient’s eye. This imaging then guides ultra-precise micro-incisions and cataract pre-treatment prior to removal of the cataract. The LENSAR™ Laser System allows for a “bladeless” procedure, minimizes energy use inside the eye, promotes fast healing, and reduces astigmatism to improve quality of vision. Stone Creek Surgery Center in Las Vegas, houses this FDA approved LENSAR™ technology.
What Are The Benefits of Laser Cataract Surgery Over Traditional Cataract Surgery?
- Allows for a “Bladeless” surgical experience.
- A unique, high-resolution, 3-D view of your eye allows your surgeon to tailor your cataract treatment, which can improve visual outcomes.
- Treatment options for astigmatism, reduces your dependence on glasses after surgery.
- More precise intraocular lens (IOL) placement in the eye, improves visual outcomes.
- Minimizes energy use, which promotes fast healing and visual recovery.
What Is Benefits of the LENSAR™ Laser Over Other Laser Platforms?
Safety
LENSAR™ is the only femtosecond laser utilizing Scheimpflug Imaging and a proprietary Augmented Reality™ technology. This smart technology allows for more precise laser treatment and eliminates the potential for surgeon error compared with lasers using OCT-based imaging.
Comfort
LENSAR™ is designed with comfort in mind by providing a “NON-CONTACT” treatment interface. By not touching the corneal surface of the eye, the LENSAR™ laser minimizes irritation and redness and enhances safety during treatment compared with lasers using a “contact” interface. You can relax with LENSAR™, knowing the best technology available is being used to treat one of your most valuable senses – your sight.
What is Micro-Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS)?
Nevada Eye Physicians cataract surgeons are regional leaders in Micro-Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS), which allows removal of the cataract through microscopic incisions of 2 millimeters or less (smaller than a pin head). Because of this incision size, treatment is commonly “topical”, meaning no needles or stitches are needed for the procedure. Most patients are able to return to work and regular activities the day following their procedure.
