VR Headsets & Eye Health

While there is no evidence that using virtual reality (VR) headsets for entertainment can lead to permanent vision damage, they can cause eye strain/fatigue, blurry vision, eye twitching and overall eye discomfort. These symptoms may result from reduced blinking when focusing on the digital VR screen. To minimize this risk, follow the specific safety guidelines provided with your VR headset and adjust it for optimal comfort. Limit VR usage by applying the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away. December is Safe Toys and Celebrations Month: If you’re buying a VR headset for a loved one this holiday season, remember to share these tips for safer use.

7 Tips to Care for Contacts

Contact lenses offer the freedom of clear vision without the fuss of glasses, which is especially great if you’re active or into sports. They also offer a full field of view and a natural look that can fit seamlessly into everyday life. However, without proper care, there’s a risk of developing keratitis (an eye infection).

Essential Contact Lens Care Tips

  1. Squeaky Clean: Always wash and dry your hands before handling lenses.
  2. Daily Freshness: Use sterile, commercially prepared lens solution every day – never water or saliva.
  3. Replace the Case: Clean your case regularly and replace it every three months.
  4. Stick to the Schedule: Don’t use lenses past their recommended timeframe.
  5. No Snoozing: Only wear lenses overnight if approved by your eye doctor.
  6. When in Doubt, Take ‘Em Out: Take out lenses if your eyes feel irritated – contact us if discomfort persists.
  7. Check-in, Check-up: Schedule regular eye exams to monitor your eye health.

If you’re interested in getting contacts or if you’ve been experiencing eye irritations while wearing contacts, schedule an eye exam with our team. Contact us at (702) 896-6043 to schedule an appointment.
