Simply put, “ocular myokymia” is eyelid spasms or twitching. Eyelid spasms are very common and usually come and go on their own; however, they can sometimes last for weeks or months. Eye strain, or eye stress, can occur many ways. In most cases, eyelid myokymia is harmless, self-limited and not associated with any disease. Intervention is usually unnecessary, meaning the condition is not serious or a sign of a medical problem.
